Born and raised in South Texas, Mario is a 1985 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Spanish. Mario was a legislative consultant for over 25 years in Texas and has recently retired. He served as Legislative Director for Texas State Senator Ken Armbrister
for 9 years (1987-1995).
Mario did a brief stint in Washington, DC from 1995 to 1996 representing Smokeless Tobacco with a region of 14 Western states including Texas. Mario returned to Austin, TX at the end of 1996 and began his lobbying practice. He has represented various tobacco companies, pharmaceuticals and small
business owners.
He has represented clients before the Texas Legislature and State Agencies. He also served on the Texas Healthcare; Bioscience Institute (THBI) board.
